Is there a real good match for this script in the public domain or at Adobe. I have found some close but not good enough. Does the script have a name other than Ford or is the original designer known? We want to use the cursive script in a Model T Ford Club newsletter using a true type or similar computer script.

Michael.

This logo is historic. It was probably designed and hand-drawn over 100 years ago, and has simply been tweaked and updated over the years for vast sums of money with each iteration.

BIt of an amateur here! Any computer font like type 1 is fine. Thanks for the advice. Think you're right about overdoing it.

Michael,

myfonts.com is a very good starting point.

Browse through the script faces at Letterhead fonts: Ballpark <http://letterheadfonts.com/contributors/tomkennedy/ballpark.shtml> looks similar.

All that Neil said is true ... and here is one of the free fonts that
someone has created based on the Ford logo. All but the 4 letters in
the original logo are from the designer's imagination. Personally, I'd
say that even the F-o-r-d are also, particularly since the "o" doesn't
match at all!

This is not a professional, high-quality font, and it doesn't even
reproduce the logo properly, but it might be barely adequate for the
use you intend.

Its name is "Ford Script", and should you have difficulties
downloading it from here, Google will find many more sites you can get
it from.

Herb,

Well, that "Ford Script" is about as close a match as Helvetica is to Futura. I did not try to do any downloads, but despite the disclaimer at the head of the topic, I suspect that they're not licensed to (re)distribute all of the fonts on that page.

"Ford Script" has no designer or copyright info in the file. It appears
to be "Commercial Script" made bolder with modifications to some
characters and with a redrawn "r".
